T-Mobile to launch the Dash 3G in July

T-Mobile has announced the newest 3G enabled phone to enter its service, the Dash 3G from HTC.
It seems summer is the time for new phones as we’ve already learned about the iPhone 3G S from AT&T and the BlackBerry Tour from Sprint & Verizon, now T-Mobile USA wants to get in on the fun has announced the Dash 3G from HTC.
While nothing seems stunningly impressive with this phone, it will certainly get the job done for you depending on what you’re looking for. It contains 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, GPS, WCDMA 1700 (AKA T-Mobile’s 3G) and the usual bells and whistles you expect. It does seem a bit odd that it is running Windows Mobile 6.1 when 6.5 is due to hit phones in September. Seeing as the Dash is due out in July, wouldn’t have killed T-Mobile to hold on until they could put 6.5 in instead of making the customers due it? With the phone releasing in July, it just seems like the company could have possibly waited.
The real mystery seems to be that HTC is releasing a slightly different version of the phone to Sprint under the name Snap. (which has to be one of the worst names ever for a cell phone as you can just picture it snapping in your back pocket) While they are essentially the same phone, the Dash seems to have lost a quick access button that the Snap has for letting users quickly access the “Inner Circle” feature. This is a new system installed by HTC which allows phone owners to prioritize the messages of selected people so that they always get through to you. Not sure why the access button is missing, but it may have just been a way to keep the phones just different enough to keep Sprint and T-Mobile happy.
As we said, the Dash is due in July, but no word on pricing as of yet.
