Sprint has won an exclusive contract to provide mobile technology for next year’s US Census. But while in many ways it will be the most high-tech census, there is one change back to more old-fashioned methods.

The European Union says it has the agreement of all the major cellphone manufacturers, including Apple, to begin offering a universal charger from next year. That’s a couple of years ahead of previous targets, though it may be a couple of years before all handsets are compatible.
