AT&T introduces three-dollar a day pay as you go plan

People on a tight budget have never really had the ability to have unlimited calling, but as of today AT&T is changing all of that.

Effective today, AT&T pay as you go customers have a new option of paying only three-dollars a day for unlimited long distance calling, and the twist is they only pay for the days they actually use the phone.  This is actually a bargain when you realize a standard AT&T unlimited plan is $99.99 a month, even if you use your GoPhone every day, you would pay between $84 to $93 depending on the month.

There are some restrictions in that this only applies to voice calls, so if you plan to do any texting, or use any sort of data service, those will cost you extra.  Unlimited texting can, however, be added for $19.99 a month, which is still not too shabby of a deal, although there is no mention if you use texting on a day you use no voice minutes if that will cost you the three-dollar fee for that day.  Our guess would be that it would since you would still be accessing the network.

Customers who believe they will be primarily calling other AT&T users can get away with even cheaper unlimited voice calls at one-dollar a day, with $.10 per call to other numbers.

If this all of this seems a just little too generous to customers,Judy Cavalieri, vice president of Prepaid Products for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, attempted to explain their reasoning behind it.  “Prepaid customers are looking for more flexible options, and this new GoPhone offer bridges the gap between paying as you go and the need for unlimited calling,” she said.  She also went on to add, “customers see value in an unlimited prepaid service that lets them pay only for the days they use and operates on a network they can trust, and GoPhone serves both needs.”

New users can pick up a GoPhone with a $15.00 credit towards the new plan at AT&T stores or by visiting the GoPhone website, or current users can call 611 from their phone, or 800-901-9878 from a landline, to change to this new plan.
