iPhone 3.0 features, specifications and speculation
Wondering what the features and specifications of the new 2009 iPhone 3.0 will be? In this short, but informative BLORGE video veteran journalist Alex Zaharov-Reutt looks at what the new iPhone 3.0 software contains, and speculates about the new iPhone 3.0 hardware expected in the next few months.
The good news is that it looks as though the iPhone will finally get the long awaited cut and paste, as well as voice activation. Possible hardware features discussed by Alex include a smaller form factor, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a new powerful processor that will allow multitasking.

Hi, I’m Alex Zaharov-Reutt and you are watching me on BLORGE.com.
Now, in the next couple of months, perhaps even less, we are going to see the new iPhone 3.0.
Already the iPhone 3.0 software, the firmware, which is in beta, has been leaked out to those who are developers and those who are friends of developers and there are people already today, which is weeks before it is going to be made available to the public, who are already running the beta iPhone software.
And what that software allows you to do is the cut and paste that Apple hasn’t been offering and many little advances and features, over a hundred new features, even things like Bluetooth stereo headsets, which were never possible before.
And about more voice activation and other software features that are pretty well documented.
You can even go on-line and even watch Apple’s 1 1/2 hour video detailing all that iPhone 3.0 features.
But, the key question for iPhone lovers is what the new iPhone hardware will be like.
Will it be thinner? Can you make the iPhone even thinner?
This is the original 2G. The 3G version is even thinner still. Will they make the new iPhone thinner?
Will Apple put in some kind of slide out keyboard, which seems quite unlikely.
A lot of the speculation centers around there being a 3.2 megapixel camera with video on the back of the iPhone and, strangely, a five megapixel camera on the future ipod touch and that’s because Apple loves to do this segmentation, you know, you have the iPhone with something not quite as good as the ipod touch, so a lot of people will still feel compelled to buy both.
Apple has this reality distortion field that makes you want to buy, if you are a fan, everything they create.
Now, one of the other big questions about the iPhone 3.0 is will it have a new multitasking chip from a company called PA Semi that has been purchased and has these powerful features?
If Apple can put a more powerful chip inside, then we might be able to get rid of the bug there of no true multitasking.
So, the pressure is on for Apple and Steve Jobs to deliver an iPhone that knocks our socks off like the original iPhone did and the pressure is also on for Steve Jobs to deliver some kind of iPhone Pro or a Mac tablet which is like a larger iPhone but with full multi-touch and some sort of keyboard which is a netbook competitor that won’t cost $2000 to $3000 and will compete very nicely with the other netbooks on the market.
So, there will be a lot of speculation over the next couple of months, but I’m very excited that an iPhone 3.0 is going to be here very soon with many of the features that should have been there from day one.
